Listen up location enthusiasts, we’re expanding our Edinburgh based team! We are searching for an avid, curious and dynamic Location Assistant.
Do you like the idea of being a location detective, tracking down unique locales for some of the world’s best brands? Are you someone who makes lists of lists of lists and could tame even the wildest of databases? Would you enjoy chatting to Highland farmers about filming their sheep one day and then to bar owners about taking over their city centre hangouts the next?
We’re on the hunt for a location assistant to join the Location Department in our Edinburgh HQ. You’ll be passionate about our industry, a bit of a geography nerd, and someone who cannot watch TV, or read a magazine, without wondering: ‘where was that shot?’
As the LS Productions Location Assistant, you will assist with the administration of our world-class Location Database.
You will help collate all necessary location images, site plans and information regarding new locations. You will take responsibility for the addition of new locations to our database, the addition and revision of contact details, and the removal of locations that are no longer available for filming.
You will assist the Location Manager to present suitable locations to our clients and to contact owners, arrange recces, negotiate fees, and carry out all necessary location pre-production where required; ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with in the most efficient way.
You will contribute to the expansion of the database by researching suitable new locations within a given brief.
You will assist with contacting Location Owners, Scouts and Location Managers for both live jobs and general enquiries, and you will ensure that all contacts and notes are captured on the database for future use.
You will work with the Location Manager to organise content for location-related marketing material and help monitor the location section of our website, ensuring locations are updated and current, based on trends in briefs and the acquisition of new locations.
You will keep up-to-date with location news in the industry, to be shared with the Location Manager and the wider LS team.
You will report to the Location Manager, Amy Morement.
· Basic understanding of stills and motion production, especially related to film location work, and a willingness to learn and develop as the company grows
· An aptitude for admin, curating databases, as well as strong filing and record-keeping skills
· Confidence working on multiple shoots at one time; multi-tasking and prioritisation are key
· The ability to think creatively and find imaginative solutions to location briefs
· Capable of tackling research projects to unearth the seemingly impossible, working with high attention to detail
· Experience working with a database and a high-level of computer literacy, ideally including Adobe Lightroom and Microsoft Office
· A confident communicator, possessing an outgoing personality as someone who can develop strong relationships, whether with local communities, regional film offices or government organisations
Your normal place of work will be LS Headquarters: 107 Constitution Street, Edinburgh, EH6 7AE.
**Please note: This role will be office-based. There will be some opportunity to go out on set and visit locations throughout the year. In these cases, expenses will be provided for any travel.
